History while in the forces
Oct 1914: joined Queen's Westminster Rifles. After some months' active service in France, returned to train for Commission, which he obtained in the East Surrey Regiment. Was sent back to France attached to the Cambridgeshire RegimentFeb 1917: volunteered for Royal Flying Corps (Observer)
Apr 1917: brought down German Machine
Apr 1917: now in Hospital. In aerial combat at altitude 10,000ft machine caught fire and descended in flames
Nov 1917: now on light duties
