Feb 1915: left for France
Apr 1915: promoted to Lance Corporal
May 1915: wounded by "dumdum" bullet in right fore-arm. In various hospitals until 9 Dec 1915 when he was sent to a Command Depot at Manchester where he remained until 8 June 1916
Jun 1916: on representation of the Bank he was discharged from the Army and returned to the offices, his arm being still quite useless. He has since learned to write with his left hand quite legibly
