History while in the forces
23 Feb 1915: left for France21 Apr 1915: badly wounded at "Hill 60" a bullet lodging near the spine resulting in complete paralysis of the right side. Remained in hospital at Cardiff until 16 Aug 1915 during which time he regained to great extent the use of limbs, but the bullet having damaged the sciatic nerve, he remained very lame. After treatment as an out-patient at a Liverpool hospital till Nov 1915, he re-joined his unit
21 Mar 1916: on the application from the Bank he was discharged from the Army and returned here.
