History while in the forces

04 Aug 1914: being a Trooper in the Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry was called up on the outbreak of war and was sent to Egypt a few weeks afterwards
1915: he obtained his Commission in Lancashire Fusiliers whilst in Egypt; went to the Dardanelles in Nov and was wounded the following month
1916: invalided home in the Spring of 1916 and was attached to the 3rd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (Regulars) a few months afterwards
Jan 1917: now passed for garrison duty abroad
Mar 1918: embarked for France now Lieutenant
02 Feb 1919: returned from France for demobilisation
03 Feb 1919: demobilised
24 Feb 1919: resumed duties with the Bank
