Aug 1916: left Cavalry, worked with Howitzer Battery on Somme Front. Left Battery and attached to 2nd Cavalry Division. Made a Corporal in charge of Royal Flying Corps attachment went up Somme Front with Cavalry during big push in which Cavalry tried to break through
Nov 1916: left Cavalry went up to Somme front again and worked with the guns as Royal Flying Corps Wireless Operator
Jan 1917: recommended for Commission and came back to England to Royal Flying Corps Cadet School
