History while in the forces
01 Feb 1917: joined the Oxford and Buckinghamshire Regiment in August 1914, was sent to the Front immediately and took part in the first Battle of Ypres. Was wounded and returned to England early in 1915. Granted a Commission in the 5th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment afterwards promoted 1st Lieutenant and ultimately joined the Royal Flying Corps and was granted his Pilot certificate.
