History while in the forces
Feb 1917: joined 4th Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, went to Northampton, next Essex and then Newcastle-on-Tyne, and whilst stationed here obtained a Commission in the 5th Battalion Durham Light Infantry and is now in France with this RegimentJun 1918: returned to England as Instructor "Sutton on Hull", East Yorkshire
Dec 1918: sent to France again 15th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, British Expeditionary Force
Mar 1919: demobilised and returned to this Office 1st May 1919
Jun 1919: transferred to Lichfield branch
