History while in the forces
13 Mar 1917: was transferred from 9th Battalion Middlesex Regiment to 4th Battalion King's Shropshire Light Infantry and left England for India in November 1914. Arrived at Rangoon, Burma in December and was stationed there about four months. Battalion then sent to Singapore, to quell the mutiny. I was then taken ill with dysentery and malaria and when convalescent sent to Upper Burma. Was invalided home from Burma October 1915 and arrived in England in December 1915. Was sent to Hampstead Hospital and from there to my depot from there. I was sent home pending discharge. Was recalled to report soon after and was sent to Swansea to join 50th Provisional Battalion. Was stationed there 4 months and after undergoing numerous medical boards was discharged as medically unfit 19 Apr 1916.- Surname
