Oswald Parsons

History while in the forces

Served through the Boer War. Joined the Royal Fusiliers in Aug 1914 with the rank of Sergeant. Obtained a Commission in the 17th Battalion Middlesex Regiment in Dec 1914 and went to France in Nov 1915. Saw heavy fighting in the Somme push attached to a Trench Mortar Battery. Has obtained his captaincy then awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous handling of his Battery. Now at St Marks hospital Chelsea recovering from shell concussion. He had been previously wounded in Nov 1916. Training Territorial Troops.
