History while in the forces
Aug 1914: was mobilised when Territorials were called to coverOct 1914: proceeded to France
Jul 1916: was very badly wounded in several places in the early days of the Somme push. After a time in a Base Hospital in France he was sent to a Hospital in Manchester, where he made but slow recovery from his wounds
Oct 1916: it was found that he had lost the use of his right hand, several operations were deemed necessary
19 Jan 1918: has heard there is every chance of regaining use of arms. On house service. Stationed at Eaton.
