10 Apr 1896: joined Welsh Regiment (Volunteers) as Private21 Feb 1900: given Commission as 2nd Lieutenant South Wales Borderer Regiment
17 Oct 1900: promoted Lieutenant
04 Jul 1903: promoted Captain
06 May 1909: resigned
02 Dec 1914: offered by the War Office a Captaincy in the South Staffordshire Regiment which he accepted by permission of the Bank Authorities and joined the Training Battalions
24 May 1916: sent to France where he has been actively engaged in the trenches, mainly on the Somme Front. So far, he has escaped injury
27 Jun 1917: Colonel of the Regiment informed him that he has been awarded the Military Cross
Sep 1917: gassed while in the front line. Went to hospital for 3 weeks and light duty for a further 3 weeks. He was then sent to Dunkirk and appointed to the Staff Captains Office which appointment he held for some months
20 Jul 1918: returned to the fighting line near Arras and remained with his Company until the signing of the Armistice, by which time they had reached Mons
Dec 1918: the last heard of him was that their Battalion was marching westwards, not forming part of the Army of Occupation
