History while in the forces
05 May 1916: joined 5th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment and was sent for a time to Hanley and then to Ireland. We heard a few weeks back that the Battalion had moved to Salisbury Plain02 Apr 1917: we are informed that he is now in France
Apr 1917: was wounded and then sent home to hospital in Glasgow
15 Apr 1918: he wrote that he was then in hospital at Stoke on Trent
06 Jun 1918: we are informed that he has re-joined the staff at the Hanley office
