Jun 1915: went in Firing Line. Went through many fierce engagements without a scratch, including the first Battle of Loos
Sep 1916: having very rough time of it
Dec 1916: brought home with fractured ankle caused by horse falling on him. Now in Military Hospital at Whalley, Lancashire. Progressing very satisfactorily
Feb 1917: foot not so well. Had to return to bed again
Mar 1917: going on satisfactorily again
30 Mar 1917: now up again and able to get out
Apr 1917: now discharged from hospital and on ten days leave. Called in office few days ago
