02 Nov 1915: joined Royal Garrison Artillery as Gunner and sent to GosportJan 1916: posted to 79th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery and sent to Bexhill as a Signaller. From Bexhill the Battery was sent to Lydd in March and from there to Taunton
28 Apr 1916: Battery sent to Taunton. Left England with 79th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery and proceeded to France on active service
04 Oct 1916: sent to England for Commission and in training at Royal Artillery Cadet school, Bloomsbury
29 Jan 1917: promoted to 2nd Lieutenant (on probation)
