History while in the forces
14 Feb 1917: volunteered in the early months of the War. After training a few months, was sent to Egypt, remained there a few months. Afterwards, went to France. Went into the trenches and was invalided home, with a septic knee. Was in hospital a few weeks and then at home a few weeks. He has now been with his Regiment several months and is at present at Whitley Bay. Is a Musketry Instructor. Expects to cross to France shortly. Is in excellent health16 Aug 1917: officially notified as missing since May 3 1917
