05 Aug 1914: made first capture of the war 'Elsie' a German barque also four nitrate ships (12,000 bags)15 Sep 1914: went to Canada and escorted first Canadian contingent from Nova Scotia to Plymouth (33 transports). Patrolling in conjunction with French in the Western Channel holding up all ships for examination
Oct 1914: captured 468 German Reservists ex SS Potsdam from USA
Nov 1914: several convoys to and from Gibraltar
Dec 1915-Jun 1915: senior ship in Western Channel patrolling
Jul 1915: went to Gibraltar and thence to Alexandria as Senior Ship and in charge of Egypt coast
Aug 1915: stood by Sollum to assist British outposts against the 'Senusi' who eventually raided our outposts and advanced 100 miles towards Alexandria but eventually driven back far into Tripoli
27 Aug 1915: proceeded to Colombo, Penang, Port Blair (Andaman Islands) Rangoon and Calcutta to organise patrol system in Bay of Bengal. Stopped Indian sedition
Feb 1916: based on Singapore. Patrolling all around the Dutch Indies where German vessels are interned examining all shipping for enemy subjects and contraband. Made captures from time to time
Jun 1916: patrolling and examining all ships bound to Dutch ports in Java and Borneo
30 Jun 1916: went to Penang for a conference between Commanders in Chief of East Indies and China and as a result went to Colombo to carry out certain schemes
Aug 1916: blockade of - in Dutch Indies until November
Nov 1916: went to Hong Kong for repairs
Jan 1917: returned to Singapore base
Feb 1917: examining at sea all mails from Neutral ships (for enemy propaganda)
Mar 1917: proceeded to Malacca straits to prevent mine laying as ship had been sunk off Colombo by mines
Apr 1917-Jun 1917: searching Indian Ocean for German raider
Aug 1917: went to Indian and Burmese ports to organise mine sweeping in rivers and all approaches to ports
Sep 1917: proceeded to Hong Kong to 'pay off'
25 Oct 1917: left Hong Kong in Empress of Russia for Vancouver via Japan. Crossed Canada by Canadian Pacific Railway to Halifax and embarked on SS Olympic for Liverpool
