History while in the forces

Nov 1915: joined Argyll Sutherland Highlanders as a Private, went in training at Richmond
22 Jul 1916: sent out to the front and was engaged in trench digging when he was hit by a fragment of a shell and was invalided home to Armstrong College, Newcastle on Tyne. He has not left England since and has been recommended for a Commission and entered the Cadet School at Newmarket at the end of December 1916. He expects his Commission in 2 months' time.
