13 Jun 1915: joined the London Scottish after training went to France. Wounded (shot through hand) during advance made by his Battalion in September now at convalescent camp at SeafordMay 1918: after being employed for a considerable time in the Orderly Room at the convalescent camp at Seaford he was moved in the "P" Reserve and resumed his duties at this branch on 13th May 1918
