History while in the forces
09 Feb 1917: he joined the 21st Battalion Royal Fusiliers (Public Schools) as a Private. Was on the French Front during most of 1915 and part of 1916. He came back to get a Commission in May 1916 and joined the 6th Officers' Training Battalion, Oxford. He took his Commission and was gazetted to 12th Battalion Queen's Own (Royal West Kent) Regiment and went to Aldershot in Dec on special duty. End of Dec he went out again to France, and is now with his Battalion, somewhere on the French Front. (letter 2 Feb)09 Apr 1917: slightly wounded in Battle of Arras but not put out of action
12 May 1917: reported missing since May 3, after Oppy fight
16 Jun 1917: his father has received news that he is wounded and Prisoner of War at Lazarettes, Hanover. Bullet through his shoulder
