Sep 1917: took part in the offensive at Ypres and wounded by nose cap of a shell. Taken to military hospital at Bath
Nov 1917: joined 6th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps at Queenborough after convalescence at Bradford on Avon. Then went to Strood for a Special Course of Cookery and passed and First Class Cook
