Apr 1916-Jul 1916: accepted as Signaller in the Royal Garrison Artillery. Trained at Brockhurst, Hampshire. Aug 1916-Feb 1917: ordered to Havre and subsequently proceeded to the FrontMar 1917-Sep 1917: invalided home with Trench Fever, in hospital at Norwich
Sep 1917: proceeded to Winchester for training, and subsequently returned to France
Feb 1918: engaged on Ypres Front
Feb 1918-Aug 1918: moved to Cambrai front and took part in March retreat and Aug. advance, including capture of Albert, Bapaume, Cambrai, Bavay and Maugeuge
12 Feb 1919: demobilised
05 Mar 1919: returned to Bennetts Hill branch
