History while in the forces
28 Mar 1918: joined the South Wales Borderers as a Private in Sep 1914, and left for Aden and India in due course. When in India, he was recommended for a Commission by his Commanding Officer, returned to England for that purpose. After the usual training, he was gazetted as 2nd Lieutenant and left for France where he was seriously wounded in Oct 1916. In consequence of his wounds, he obtained his discharge from the Army on the 14th March 1918. Re-instated at Neath branch, May 1918- Surname
