History while in the forces

04 Aug 1914: was suspended for inattention to duty and general incompetence. A few weeks afterwards he joined the National Reserve. In the 'Times' of 14 Nov 1914 he was gazetted as Lieutenant in the Territorial Reserve
14 Jun 1915: he cashed a cheque on his office of Commutation Row Branch for £14 without sufficient funds to meet it in June 1915. At our request he resigned on 24 June 1915 as from 1st October 1914 and was paid three months' salary as from the latter date.
