Arthur Henry Clarke

History while in the forces

Jan 1916: joined Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and sent to Crystal Palace. Sent to Cranwell Line, later back to Crystal Palace, then Devonport
17 Jan 1917: sent to Liverpool to board ship. Very little of importance to report. He has been Gunner on several merchant ships which have been doing other duty. At present there he is in Cardiff without a ship and very anxious to get his discharge. Have written to Commanding Officer asking for release.
