Sep 1915: wounded, graze and slight fracture at the back of the head (France)Dec 1915: after being in hospital and a convalescent home in this country, he re-joined his Battalion
10 May 1916: wounded in the head very seriously; lay unconscious for 10 days with a piece of rifle grenade in his head, was then operated on, but was partly paralyzed and unable to speak for nearly a month
06 Oct 1916: he received his discharge from the Army being unfit for further service. The doctors told him to do no mental work for six months
