10 Feb 1916: joined Queen's Westminster Rifles and went to Winchester for training. Later in the year he was sent to Frinton with a Provisional Battalion and in December 1916 was transferred to the Dorset Regiment under training at Bournemouth
Jan 1917: warned for a Draft for India and we understand is now on his way there
17 Feb 1917: on his way to India and postcard received from Cape Town
23 Mar 1917: arrived in India. Expecting to be drafted to Mesopotamia
