About this collection

Menu for a dinner hosted at the Savoy hotel by the London and Midland Bank chairman and directors, and attended by the senior management team of City Bank. The dinner celebrated City Bank's merger with Midland in 1898. Midland changed its name to London City and Midland Bank as a result of the deal. The cover, by illustrator Herbert Granville Fell, includes a lady in a boat, representing commerce. She raises a toast to a standing figure, representing banking.
