Photograph looking down into the banking hall of the Main-Seneca branch, located in the bank's head office. The scene is busy with customers and there are staff working behind the counter. The camera angle shows off the impressive scale and architecture of the space. The 17-storey building at 237 Main Street was designed by Buffalo architects Green & Wicks and completed in April 1913 for the Marine National Bank (later Marine Trust Company of Buffalo). It became the head office of the Marine Trust Company of Western New York when it was formed through the merger of various local banks in 1951. In 1972 the bank moved its headquarters to a 40-storey tower known as Marine Midland Center, built just a block away at 1 Seneca Street.
