Photograph of Macau, with a caption that reads: 'The Inner Harbour, Macao, from the City. The essentially Chinese character of that portion of the town bordering the Inner Harbour is visible at a glance. But few craft occupy the anchorage which has long been too shallow to accommodate even junks, unless of very light draft. Dredging has been talked of, but nothing has yet been done. The small island in mid-channel is known as Green Island, the hills forming the background being a portion of the Island of Patera'.
