About this collection
HSBC launched the ‘Wayfoong’ magazine in Hong Kong and mainland China in 1980. It was a publication for staff – and about staff. The bank had grown rapidly in Hong Kong in the 1960s and 1970s. This new magazine featured updates and photographs from across the business to keep employees connected with key developments over the next three decades. It also shared important milestones in employees’ lives – such as engagements, marriages, new babies and festivals – helping to maintain a sense of community and collaboration as the bank evolved. Enjoy this selection of colourful magazine covers celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year.
