Photograph of Pedder's Wharf, with a caption that reads: 'View from Pedder's Wharf. The Clock Tower, which stands at the junction of the Wharf, Queen's Road and Wyndham Street, was at one time a conspicuous object, but the erection of numerous fine buildings in its immediate neighbourhood has dwarfed its propositions. The house which so fills the centre of the picture was at one time the West wing of the princely building occupied by Messrs. Dent & Co., but is now in the possession of an independent firm – Messrs. Melchers & Co. The Stone Wharf in the picture has, since it was taken, been replaced by one of wood, the former structure having been irretrievably damaged in the last typhoon'.
