It contains S.D.R.'s first impressions of Birmingham, the Bull Ring Riots of 1889, Birmingham banks and various well-known characters, including Charles Geach, the founder of Birmingham and Midland Bank. The last few pages of the volume include advertisements for businesses in Birmingham and there is a pull-out sketch of the buildings and companies located in Bull Street in 1840.
