A programme of restructuring, to shape a leaner and fitter HSBC, had been underway since 2011. The Investor Update in June 2015 marked the next set of strategic priorities to 'capture value from our global presence in a changed world.’ There followed more closures and disposals, and refocus on our strengths in Asia, and on markets most relevant to international trade and capital flows.

We have been printing banknotes in Hong Kong since the nineteenth century. For our 150th anniversary in 2015 we launched a special commemorative HKD150 note. It raised HKD477 million for local charities
