On 19 June 1937, thousands of Midland Bank (now HSBC UK) employees from all over the country gathered at the firm's New Beckenham sports ground for the event of the year – the bank's annual sports day. The athletic events and fairground rides were rounded off with a grand concert and an impressive fireworks display. It was a summertime extravaganza not to be missed!
