About this collection
Did you know that HSBC is affectionately known as the 'Lion Bank’ in Hong Kong? It all began with our bronze lion statues commissioned more than a century ago. Over the decades, they became a popular sight standing guard outside our headquarters. Naturally, such recognisable characters were the perfect symbols to represent HSBC, as marketing campaigns became more sophisticated from the 1960s onwards. Generations of Hong Kongers have seen them on banknotes, bank cards, money boxes and adverts – and they continue to symbolise growth and prosperity for us across the globe. Take a trip down memory lane to see how Stephen and Stitt have enjoyed their time in the spotlight.
