About this collection

HSBC helped to finance Hong Kong’s manufacturing-led boom in the post-war period. Our growing branch network played a critical role. By 1968 we had opened 55 branches. By the 1970s we were growing at a rate of one new office a week. The Yau Tong Bay opening on 29 October 1980 marked our 250th branch of this major expansion programme.
