HSBC was seeking new opportunities for diversification in the 1980s and 1990s. The period saw a number of transformative takeover deals and the formation of new subsidiaries. As the organisation expanded, the bank’s public affairs department sought to help employees feel more in touch with strategy and operations around the network.
